Chesil Beach is a stunning view you must see when holidaying here in Warren House Bed & Breakfast, Chideock. Chesil Beach stretches 18 miles north west from Portland to West Bay. It is a pebble beach and the pebbles are the size of your fist in Portland and the size of a pea at West Bay.
There are fabulous views of Chesil Beach from the coast road from Bridport to Abbotsbury and from the top of Portland. The photo I have added to this blog was taken at the top of the Magnolia Walk in the beautiful Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens.
Chesil beach is a fabulous place for walking, fishing, water sports and bird watching.
The Fleet Lagoon which separates the mainland from Chesil Beach is an area of salty water which provides perfect conditions for many species of wildlife.
Chesil Beach is 18 miles (28 kilometres) long and, on average, 160 metres wide and rises to 12 metres in height. Chesil Beach is also designated World Heritage and is part of the Jurassic Coast.
We can’t resist lunch at the Taste Cafe @ Chesil Beach which sits on the beach between Weymouth and Portland. Their Fish Platters are simply the best! Our favourite restaurant The Crab Cafe is at Wyke Regis close to Chesil Beach, it’s known for it’s Oysters and Crabs but every meal there is superb!
