Bridport Food Festival takes place on Sunday 10th June until Saturday 16th June 2018
A week of delicious food events around the town of Bridport and surrounding area will take place from Sunday 10th June 2018, finishing with the Festival’s main event at Asker Meadows on Saturday 16th June when they join up with the Bridport Round Table Beer Festival.
BRIDPORT FOOD FESTIVAL is run by the Bridport Local Food Group, a group of dedicated volunteers with the aim of supporting producers and promoting local food.
Saturday’s Festival is a chance for you to taste a range of delicious local produce there will be an array of tasty goodies to take home. In the lively Producers’ Marquee you’ll find the best food and drink from producers across the local area.
Look out for the Tea tent run by lovely ladies from our own village of Chideock!! The tea tent is sponsored by Leaker’s Bakery . Sit down and enjoy a delicious cream tea, scones and flapjacks, and the best cup of tea around provided by Dorset Teas.
There are a number of cookery demonstrations taking place by local chefs using local produce. These are always fascinating to watch and you can pick up some great tips!
10.30: Tom Smith – Chef @ The Ropemakers will be demonstrating a Hake based dish
11.30: Alan Fryer – Chef & Licensee @ The George will be demonstrating a fish dish
12.30: Andy Chu – Chef at Dragon of the South, will be cooking popular Chinese dishes
13.30: Yokichi Seno – A Michelin Star Sushi Chef and owner of Kataba knives
14.30: Rachel Roddy – The Italian based award winning food writer will be cooking dishes she cooks in her home in Rome.
15.30: Sarah Ali Choudhury – TV chef and food columnist, will be demonstrating some popular Indian recipes.
Throughout the week local shop owners and food producers will be giving you an insight into there world! Palmer’s Brewery are offering tours of the historic brewery, Washingpool Farm are showing you what farm life is like. Caroline owner of Leaker’s Bakery is offering tours of the bakery. But the one that excites us the most is Phil Frampton of Frampton’s butchers demonstrating how to make a perfect sausage. We know they are perfect, as Frampton’s make all the sausages for our B&B breakfasts and supply us with all our bacon and black pud!
